2022 GMC Canyon Engines & Powertrain

The GMC Canyon comes standard with a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine. There is a 308-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 gas engine and a 181-horsepower 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that are also available. The four-cylinder engines pair with a six-speed automatic transmission and the V6 engine comes with an eight-speed automatic. All Canyon trucks are available with rear-wheel (2WD) or four-wheel (4WD) drive, except the AT4 which is 4WD only. For fuel economy ratings, the 2.5-liter gas engine gets 19 city/25 highway mpg, while the turbo-diesel gets 20 city/30 highway mpg and the 3.6-liter V6 gets 18 city/25 highway mpg. If fuel efficiency is your thing, you might want to consider the turbo-diesel engine. If you want raw power, consider the 3.6-liter V6 engine.

2022 Ford Ranger Engines & Powertrain

The 2022 Ford Ranger offers durable features like a high-strength steel frame and frame-mounted steel bumpers, combined with a class-exclusive* advanced turbocharged gas four-cylinder engine, you can rely on your Ranger whether on your everyday drive or slightly rugged terrain. It's top-rated gas torque, a 2.3L EcoBoost engine, paired with the class-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission, pushes out 310 lb.-ft. of torque and 270-hp. Every Ranger provides the choice of either 2WD or 4WD. Unfortunately, there is no V6 or diesel engine offering with the Ford Ranger. Since there is only one engine option, the fuel economy is rated across the board at 21 city/26 highway mpg. 4WD Ranger trucks will get slightly less mpg, but not enough to really notice it.
