Verdict: The 2025 GMC Terrain Wins Thanks to Its Interior & Driving
Quality

When we compare the GMC Terrain to the Ford Escape, the 2025
Terrain beats out the 2025 Escape for two main reasons: interior quality and
driving performance.
While the 2025 Escape offers more trim levels, passenger
room, cargo capacity, and engines, including hybrid options, it falls short of
competitors in its class in the interior and driving categories.
Because no major changes have been made to the 2025 Escape
models, the interior designs remain the same with increased pricing from last
year. Several automotive publications have also noted the interior's quality is
inferior in the small SUV market.
Car and Driver states the "entry-level trim interior
materials seem cheap" due to its plastic interior panels and Edmunds shared it
lacks the interior quality of many of its competitors.
The same applies to its driving quality. Car and Driver
states the 2025 Escape's overly firm suspension is a "misstep for traveling
families seeking a smooth riding experience" as it provides a stiff, bumpy
ride. Although Edmunds shares it's a functional small SUV, they mentioned it
lacks driving engagement.
While the 2025 Terrain has fewer trim levels, smaller cargo
capacity, and one engine with no hybrid options, it outperforms in powertrain
performance and higher interior quality.
As a complete redesign year, Edmunds shares that the 2025
Terrain models "come with a lot of standard features and a more cohesive
exterior design that make it more appealing than before." Kelley Blue Book also
praised the interior, stating "The Terrain already had a roomy and comfortable
cabin, and we are eager to sit in the new one to verify the 2025 model is just
as good or better."
Drivers investing in a new vehicle will get more value out
of the 2025 GMC Terrain thanks to its better overall performance and upscale
interior amenities.
