The 2026 Canyon is a mid-size pickup truck with four doors and bold body line styling for a leveled stance. It has a high-clearance front dascia with trimmed-out corners and optimized approach/breakover angles to help navigate obstacles. There are full LED headlamps, daytime running lamps, and available fog lamps.



The 5.1-ft. truck bed is versatile with eight standard tie-downs for various-sized cargo and remote locking/unlocking capabilities for convenience and security. There are also multiple available cargo bed features, including a half-gate position for long objects, a 120V outlet for off-road power, and a spray-on bedliner.

2026 GMC Canyon Engine Options, Horsepower, & Traction Modes

The 2026 GMC Canyon has one engine option: a 2.0L inline-four Turbomax engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It produces up to 310 hp and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. The fuel economy estimates are the same for all trims at 17 MPG city/21 MPG highway/21 MPG combined.



There are four standard driver-select modes:

• Normal: For daily driving and comfort that optimizes fuel economy 
• Off-Road: For driving in gravel, sand, mud, and other off-road conditions, which improves traction and maneuverability 
• Terrain: For traction control on uneven surfaces, which adds automatic braking at low speeds
• Tow/Haul: For hauling trailers or heavy loads, which keeps the truck in low gear for more torque 

A Baja mode is also exclusively standard to the ATX for high-speed off-roading.

The approach angle is 33.3° and the departure angle is 22.0°, making it easy to maneuver in tight trails or streets as a mid-size pickup.

The 2026 Canyon towing capacity and payload ratings vary per trim level and model. The Elevation, AT4, and Denali can tow up to 7,700 lbs with a 1,670 lbs max payload capacity. The AT4X tows up to 6,000 lbs with a 1,260 lbs max payload capacity.



Multiple towing assistance features and equipment are standard across the lineup, including:

• ProGrade Trailering System: A camera/display system with trailer detection, custom profiles, pre-departure checklist, theft detection, and in-vehicle trailing app
