2026 GMC Terrain Release Date

The 2026 GMC Terrain release date is scheduled for January 30th, 2025, with reservations. The start of regular production (SORP) for 2026 Terrain models is set for March 17th, 2025, at the GM San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico.

2026 GMC Terrain Redesign Changes - What's New Compared to 2025?

Coming fresh off an all-new design last year, the 2026 GMC Terrain brings even more changes as a refreshed model year:
  • New AT4 and Denali trim levels (unavailable in 2025)
  • New, Denali-exclusive Glacier White Tricoat paint (replacing White Frost Tricoat)
  • Downpour Metallic is now available (previously unavailable in 2025)
  • 0.5" increased off-road-tuned suspension height for the AT4

2026 GMC Terrain Price, Trims, & Configurations

The 2026 GMC Terrain has three trim levels with pricing starting at:
  • Elevation: $29,900 MSRP
  • AT4: $38,600 MSRP
  • Denali: $41,100 MSRP
The Elevation comes with standard FWD and available AWD, while the AT4 and Denali are solely AWD.

2026 GMC Terrain Elevation

The 2026 GMC Terrain Elevation is the base-level trim, with pricing starting at $29,900 MSRP.

Its key standard features include:
  • 17" Grazen Metallic machined aluminum wheels and 17" all-season tires
  • Trim-exclusive upright grille design
  • 11" diagonal Driver Information Center
An Elevation Premium featured edition is also available, offering 19" Technical Gray wheels, an AutoSense liftgate, roof side rails, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging, and CoreTec seating in After Dark or Giden Gray/After Dark.

Even as an entry-level trim, the 2026 Terrain Elevation brings plenty of standard value features without upgrading to packages or upper trim levels.

2026 GMC Terrain AT4

The 2026 GMC Terrain AT4 is the mid-level, off-road-focused trim, with pricing starting at $38,600 MSRP.

Its key standard features include:
  • 17" Dark-machined aluminum wheels and 17" General Grabber all-terrain tires
  • Front red recovery hooks, front skid plate, and steel underbody shield 
  • Hands-free AutoSense power liftgate and Hill Descent Control
According to GMC, the 2026 Terrain AT4 will be the most capable version ever. An all-new driver-selectable Terrain Mode is AT4-exclusive for low-speed crawling over obstacles. It also has a 0.5" lifted ride height with an off-road-tuned suspension for responsive steering and a sportier drive.

2026 GMC Terrain Denali

The 2026 GMC Terrain Denali is the top-level luxury trim, with pricing starting at $41,100 MSRP. A new Glacier White Tricoat paint became exclusively available for this trim, replacing the former White Frost Tricoat. It also received upgraded dampers and standard heated rear seats.

Its key features include:
  • 19" Midnight Silver machine-face aluminum wheels and 19" all-season tires
  • Animated LED headlamps and taillamps
  • Exclusive Denali signature grille with Galvano Silver accents
With more standard features and added upscale amenities, the Denali offers the peak of luxury in the 2026 Terrain lineup.

2026 GMC Terrain Exterior Colors


The 2026 GMC Terrain is a small crossover SUV with five doors, roof rails, all-terrain tires, and an aluminum body for a lightweight and rust-resistant design.

It comes in the following colors with select availability per trim:

The 2026 Terrain exterior dimensions vary slightly per trim and configuration, with specs starting at 181.0" L  and 65.81" H. Width specs are currently unavailable but should remain as last year's since it was redesigned at 74.5 W.

A 2026 GMC Terrain Black Edition is also available with blacked-out exterior aesthetics, including gloss-black aluminum wheels, black mirror caps, roof side rails, body accents, and a darkened grille.

2026 GMC Terrain Interior Seating & Cargo Space

The 2026 Terrain interior has two rows, front bucket seats, a five-passenger capacity, and 60/40 split-folding rear seats for additional cargo room. A massive 15.3" diagonal premium GMC infotainment touchscreen with built-in Google compatibility, an 11" Driver Information Center, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability is standard across the lineup.

The 2026 GMC Terrain comes with one engine option: a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. FWD models are paired with a continuously variable transmission and AWD models with an eight-speed automatic unit.

The FWD models produce up to 175 hp and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. The AWD models output up to 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque.

2026 GMC Terrain MPG Ratings

According to GMC, the 2026 Terrain fuel economy estimates very per configuration:
  • FWD Models: 26 MPG city/ 28 MPG highway/ 27 MPG combined
  • AWD Models: 25 MPG city/ 28 MPG highway/ 25 MPG combined

  • 2026 GMC Terrain Towing Capacity & Payload Ratings

    The 2026 GMC Terrain can tow up to 1,500 lbs for AWD models and 800 lbs for FWD models, making it capable of hauling small trailers and outdoor recreational equipment. Payload ratings aren't yet available and will be updated once more information becomes available. 


    A Trailering Package comes with a factory-installed trailer hitch, wiring harness, and Hitch Guidance with Hitch View. These are standard on the AT4 and Denali and available on the Elevation. However, Trailer Sway Control is standard across the lineup to limit side-to-side motion.
